LEIGH police are backing brothers PC Mark and Paul Sayer in an End to End charity bike ride.
The duo set off on Saturday from John O'Groats and plan to reach Lands End 874 miles and eight days later.
It is hoped that the event, which has taken 18 months of planning, will raise £3,000 for children's charities.
Community constable Mark and his businessman brother, Paul whose company, the Bryn Motor Company, is the main sponsor, will be supported by a team including Leigh, Lowton and Golborne bobbies as they pedal south.
Anyone who wishes to help with sponsorship can contact Ian Halliwell at Leigh police station.
