YOUNG entrepreneurs at a Clitheroe school have swept the board in the local heat of a top business competition with a computer car that motors around classrooms.
Odyssey, from Ribblesdale Technology College, won the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley final of the Young Enterprise competition at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors.
The company also won prizes for the best French language presentation, best interim presentation, best trade stand, best media portfolio, best marketing drive, best export drive and best written report.
Students have designed a 'PIC' car -- Programmable Integrated Circuit -- which is run by personal computer and can perform a wide range of tasks.
The super-buggy can draw shapes and angles for use in mathematics and negotiate corners and obstacles around a classroom.
Pupils have set up mini-firm, called Odyssey, to produce and market the car and written and published a user guide, and designed a website.
Ribblesdale teacher Neil Ashworth said: "The youngsters were outstanding. They have worked really hard and given up their weekends and stayed late at school to work for this. They thoroughly deserve their success."
Odyssey received a standing ovation from fellow competitors at a French language presentation in Brussels in February.
The project now goes through to the East Lancashire final of Young Enterprise at the Mytton Fold Farm Hotel, Langho, on Wednesday.
