SOUTH African Martin Van Jaarsveld was in irresistible form as Enfield beat Stand by 74 runs in the Inter-League Club Challenge first round.
The Enfield professional created the platform to work from as he hit an unbeaten 124 as the visitors set 185-5.
Stand failed to pick up the pace of the reply and Van Jaarsveld took 3-20 and Imran Abid weighed in with one wicket for nine runs from a nine over stint that included five maidens, to help win the game on run-rate.
Another Lancashire League club to enjoy success was Haslingden, who beat Norden on run-rate after hitting the top score of the day at Bentgate.
Graham Knowles smashed 118 runs as he produced a fourth wicket partnership of 144 with skipper Paul Blackledge who notched 73 in a total of 278-7.
With rain interruptions, Norden's innings was disrupted and they finished 40 runs adrift on 66-4 as Nick Brierley top scored with 34 not out.
Bacup are also on the the march after a run-rate win over Ashton. Opener Dominic Ayres was on song with a fine knock of 80 and Peter Thompson hit 65 as they put on 151.
Professional Shaun Young then crashed 34 runs from just 13 balls as Bacup reached 262-8.
Ashton professional Anil Rideegammanagedera tried to prompt a successful riposte as he made an unbeaten 75 but his side stuttered to 126-9 as they chased a rain reduced target.
The Lancashire League champions did suffer one blow as strike bowler David Ormerod sustained an elbow injury.
Burnley were also winners as they beat Milnrow by 62 runs at Turf Moor.
Jonathan Clare hit 34 and took two wickets for 15 runs as the home side set 162-9 and Steven Holden picked up two for 12 as Milnrow were dismissed for 100.
Paid man Jason Arnberger hit 79 not out as Ramsbottom had a nine wicket win at Unsworth.
Todmorden were beaten on run-rate at Heywood after the home side posted 249-1.
Openers Bobby Cross (106 not out) and Kevin Howard (76) put on 145 and professional Johann Botha notched an unbeaten 52.
The Centre Vale side's professional tried to set the tone with Gyan Pandey (62) but the visitors could only make 123-5 chasing a revised target.
A century by Alan Durose helped Werneth beat Nelson at Seedhill by 80 runs.
Durose made 101 as Werneth made 226-8, Paul Beech took four wickets for 25, but while David Crotty made 44 Nelson never looked like threatening their rivals' total.
Accrington pro Andre Seymore hit 49 but Accrington were 87 all out as they lost to Royton by nine wickets.
Holders Rochdale progressed with a run-rate win over Church.
Phil Sykes notched 56 in Church's 157 for seven, but Tushar Arothe hit 57 as Rochdale won by three wickets.
