RESIDENTS have been celebrating the completion of a new £52,000 floodlit venue for community events, at the side of the Ernest Street Baptist Chapel, in Church, which was completed in just 12 weeks and features a 17-metres by two-metres mural painted by youngsters in the area.
Entertainment at the official opening included dancing, music and a magician. Members of the church raised £4,000 towards the project, with the rest coming from a £1million pot made available by Lancashire County Council, and the Single Regeneration Budget.
