A TRAIN has hit a car on a level crossing in Haslingden killing a man.
A Land Rover was hit by the train at Irwell Vale Road, Haslingden, on Wednesday afternoon.
A woman passenger in the car escaped without serious injury.
Both were given medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
Lancashire police, fire service and an air ambulance were called to the crash.
The train was operated by the East Lancashire Railway, on the line running from Bury to Rawtenstall.
