RESIDENTS living in Ramsbottom are being given the chance to participate in a series of one-off activities to promote greener living as part of Environment Week.
The borough is planning an action packed programme of events and activities aimed at all the family which will run from Sunday, May 18.
To kick start the event, Environmental Collections will be held at Ramsbottom Library, gathering recyclable items such as used printer cartridges. They money raised will be donated to Bury Metro Deaf Club. Postage stamps will be collected for Guide Dogs for the Blind, old prescription glasses for Oxfam and knitting wool for blankets.
Groundwork Bury will also be doing five waste workshops in local schools which will include making junk monsters.
The end of the event will be marked with an Environment Fair at the Castle Leisure Centre, Bury on Saturday, May 24.
Anybody wanting more information about any of the events should contact Debbie Smith on 01706 822484.
