PRESTON gained revenge for a shock league defeat at the hands of Leyland at Fox Lane last weekend by defeating them easily the next day to go through to the third round of the National Knockout.
Pace bowler professional Manoj Parekh took four wickets for 18 to help restrict Leyland to 136 in the cup match.
An unbeaten 71 from Anthony Mann saw Preston home with three wickets to spare.
The previous day Leyland found their modest total of 140 for 9 easy enough to claim victory in the Northern Premier League encounter, thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by Pallet taking seven wickets for 38 runs. The maximum 15 point victory lifted the Fox Lane side to third from bottom of the table.
Victories elsewhere for Chorley and Darwen meant Preston fell to third place.
Leyland Motors fell to a heavy 71 run defeat at Kendal, only managing to score 130 in response to a target of 201 for 8. Ashraf top scored for Motors with 67.
