Kevin aims to tackle world
TYLDESLEY Judo Club Senior Coach Kevin Kinney 5th Dano vercame strong European competition to become double gold medalist in the first Belgium Judo Masters after winning the under 81Kg and then the open weight
Kevin was using this competition as a warm up competition for the unique prestigious fifth World Masters Tournament being held in Japan in June - a week long competition for up to 1000 competitors from all over the world.
Kevin is being accompanied and supported on this feast of Judo by his life long friends and coaches from Tyldesley Judo Club Frank Jones of Leigh and Jack Mountford of Atherton who have both nurtured and contributed to his excellence to see him develop into a top competitor.
They have both coached players for over 45 years and produced numerous top class players in the North West.
To view this hard competitive sport or even give it a try join the thriving Junior section coached by Ann Kokotaylor and Mel Dodd, both of Astley, turn up on Mondays upstairs at Tyldesley Voluntary Community Centre Gym. Upper George St. Tyldesley (next door to Tech) Juniors 7pm. six-16. Seniors practice from 8.30pm.
