AT the Greater Manchester Track and Field Championships at Longford Park on Sunday, 12-year-old, Hannah Warburton ran a National Grade 1 Standard.
Running in the Girls U13 1200mts, Hannah ran a super race to win her first Championship title in a time of 3mins 59.4 secs, Hannah also won third place in the shot putt event.
Chloe Brown also won her first county title in the U15 girls discus with a throw of 22.72cm. She was also a bronze medal winner in the shot putt throwing 7.07cm.
In the senior ladies events Carla Gregory won the County title in the shot event breaking the club record with a 10.5m putt. Carla Baines won gold in the senior javelin throwing 30.26m and silver in the shot event with a putt of 9.25m.
In the boys U17's 1500 mts Tom Boardman won the bronze medal with a time of 4min-16.6sec.
Lauren Howarth ran well to record a PB of 5min-3secs in the U15 1500 mts just missing a medal in fourth place. Rebecca Howarth ran 2mins-27.9secs in the heats of the U15 girls 800mts a PB, but was unable to reproduce the time in the final finishing in sixth place. Alex Urmston won fourth place in the youths U17 800mts in a time of 2mins-8.2secs. Louise Boardman was eighth in the U17 long jump and fourth in the heats of the 200mts in a time of 29.9secs.
In the U13 girls events Kirsty Hogan was fifth in the shot and fifth in the 1200mts with a time of 4mins-52.1sec.
Derek Howarth claimed hit 13th National Veterans title on Sunday by running in the National Veterans 10km Road Race Championship at Birmingham. Derek won the Over70's National title in a time of 45mins-25secs. Over a long career. In the Veterans ranks, Derek has won National title ranging from 100mts way back when he was a mere 40 year-old to the National Cross Country title plus three European Championship wins, 800mts, 1500mts and 3000mts all indoors. This makes Derek the winner of the most National titles in the clubs history which stretches for nearly 100 years.
