A MISSING Glasgow man whose mobile phone was found under a Blackpool pier has been found safe and well in St Annes.
Father-of-one Robert Reid, 46, was at the centre of a massive police hunt after disappearing from his home in Ruchills, Glasgow on April 24.
It is understood he was found on Saturday in St Annes after a member of the public recognised him from media appeals and phoned the police.
His mobile phone was found under South Pier, Blackpool the day after he disappeared, fuelling concerns for his safety after his mysterious disappearance.
Strathclyde Police would only say he had been 'traced in the north of England' but confirmed he was 'safe and well'.
The 46-year-old Scottish Power field sales agent, who had recently moved house from Bishopbriggs to Ruchill, was last seen on April 24 by his wife 46-year-old wife, Sandra, and their eight-year-old son, Lewis.
After morning work appointments around Glasgow he lunched at home with his family, even planning a cinema trip that evening.
But he failed to return home after work that afternoon and his phone was found in Blackpool the next day.
His abandoned car was found in a Glasgow car park on Friday, and he was finally found after emotional media appeals by his family led to a member of the public recognising Robert -- a one time finalist on Channel 4 show Fifteen to One.
Strathclyde Police refused to say whether or not Robert had heeded his wife's pleas to return home.
Legal secretary Sandra had earlier told reporters: "Robert and I will obviously have a lot of things to discuss.
"But I know we can get through this difficult time.
"We have gone through a lot of change recently with moving home and Robert starting a new job.
"Lewis and I love Robert very much."
Strathclyde Police Superintendent Paul Main, who led the search, commented: "This has been an unusual inquiry since the man's disappearance was completely out of character."
