A MESSAGE on a wayside pulpit read "If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours."
One Leigh Linkliner who tried it was asked by a sullen youth what was so funny and two teenage girls totally blanked her.
I've tried it too, mostly at people with cute dogs, but it doesn't always work. Some people look at you as if you are not all there.
It's National Smile Week until the 18th, so there's an excuse to try and brighten up some lives. Go on crack your face.
