I WAS impressed by Leigh Harrier Tashon Gallagher's recent record breaking 400m performance -- without spikes.
Wearing just trainers the unserious but very gifted 16-years-old Lowton sprinter took the club's 12 year old record in 53.4sec, and doubled with a 200m victory, at a league meeting after being asked to fill in to gain points for the club.
As an ex-Harrier and avid athletics fan I can't wait to see what he can do when he's properly equipped and gets down to getting some serious training under his belt.
Apologies too to Tashon whose surname last week was incorrectly reported as Whittaker. I know the feeling, Tash, it happened to me regularly!
I WAS delighted that another runner, this time a nine-years-old, took the trouble to write to me, because he knew I was a past hurdler, telling me about his website for the Leigh club.
As a computer buffoon myself I find his work at such a young age quite mind blowing. Kids have come a long way from plastercine and crayons.
