REGARDING the report published in your paper about the distribution of grants being the possible cause of the Burnley riots.
The 'all-party' Commons Committee have stated "the way government money is distributed in regions may have heightened racial tensions in the North of England."
The fact that Single Regeneration Budget grants have boundaries make the whole SRB system one of positive discrimination toward those who do not live within the boundaries set by local councils.
Apparently even Burnley's MP Peter Pike now acknowledges this. When I pointed this out, the media called me a racist.
In order to be a fair system the SRB should not know any boundaries. these are people from all parts of the borough who have legitimate needs, not just the selected few chosen time and time again by the council.
