SOCCER legend George Best helped TV's Michael Parkinson receive a cheque for £5000 on behalf of the Foundation for Liver Research during a charity dinner at the Grant Arms Hotel, Ramsbottom.
The money was presented by Kevin Skillin of event sponsors Imperial Consultants Ltd of Whitefield.
The Foundation - which is committed to funding research into liver diseases and problems - set up an Institute of Hepatology in 1996 to bring together scientists and doctors.
The Institute now has a research team of 30 including visiting research fellows from a number of overseas countries.
