A FACELIFT for a popular children's park and play area is on the cards, thanks to a group of volunteers in Stacksteads.
Parents and residents have expressed concern at the deterioration of Western Road Park and have held a meeting at the Drop-in centre, Newchurch Road, to discuss ways to improve it.
Meetings have also been held with Rossendale Borough Council and Groundwork Rossendale and plans to improve the park have now been drawn up.
Resident and member of the Stacksteads Riverside Park Group Paul Sanford, said: "One of the many pleasures of being involved in the group is to see the development of ideas into worthwhile projects that have significant benefit to the community.
"The drop-in centre has provided us with a useful place to meet and for residents to express their views about what can be done."
Local artist Bryan Lamb has drawn up an impression of things which may be included in the scheme, including new play equipment, all-weather pitches for football and basket ball, car parking and seating.
Residents of the Western Road area can call in at the centre to comment on proposals or add their ideas, or call 01706 875325.
