COLNE'S Open Door Project has received a grant of £515 from Lancashire County Council.
The LEAF (Lancashire Environmental Action Fund) will be used to support the recycling schemes in the centre.
Community development worker Sue Hogg said: "We are delighted to receive this grant.
"We will be using it to buy recycling bins for paper, glass and aluminium cans, as well as can crushers and a paper shredder.
"We are still awaiting news of government legislation on community composting and then we will also be buying composting bins.
"Along with everyone else we want to do our bit in the centre to cut down on the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill and to recycle what we can. We hope that we can also inspire other people who come into the centre to do their own recycling."
Sue is willing to help out any groups wanting to apply for LEAF grants. She can be contacted on 01282 868401.
