A SERIES of medieval markets is to be held in Clitheroe in a bid to boost visitors to the town on Sundays.
The first of the special markets will take place tomorrow and will depict the age of chivalry, with knights and ladies, strolling minstrels and pie sellers.
Parking restrictions in the town will be lifted for the day and charges in municipal car parks waived.
Many town centre shops are expected to open and the event will feature entertainment, including music, a Punch and Judy show and children's rides.
There will also be guided tours of the town by Clitheroe 'human sound machine' Simon Entwistle.
The special markets follow on from the successful Clitheroe craft and gift Christmas Fair, which attracted around 4,000 visitors.
Organiser Ray Barker said: "All the stalls are fully-booked, most with arts and craftwork, and we are looking forward to a great day.
"People are invited to dress up in medieval costume, although we don't advise anyone to ride through town on a horse!"
The medieval market will run from 10am to 4pm and everyone is welcome.
