DARWEN schoolchildren are being invited to learn more about local politics in the coming months.
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is encouraging schools to take part in the citizenship and democracy sessions, featuring talks from council leader Bill Taylor.
The talks teach students of the importance of being involved in citizenship at an early age and what the council does locally that affects their lives.
Sessions also delve into the world of national politics and highlight the work of the MP, illustrating how democracy works.
Coun Bill Taylor said: "This is the second year we have offered these visits to high schools.
"Last year they proved very successful and popular as schools get to grip with the new curriculum in citizenship. It is of course non-party political and well received by both students and staff.
"You never know, I could be talking to a head of year or council leader of the future."
High schools in Darwen that are interested in the sessions should contact Dianne Hill or Tara Duce on 01254 585757 to discuss available dates.
