A NEW project to help homeowners in Burnley's most deprived wards is due to be launched next month.
The Home Maintenance Project is part of 'Anchor Staying Put', a non-profit charity which gives help and advice to people on repairs and maintenance of homes.
The scheme is due to be launched in the town on Wednesday, June 4.
Their aim is to improve run down communities in Burnley by helping residents to stay and maintain their homes, rather than move out. A 'Handy Person' scheme allows residents to take advantage of free minor repairs, providing materials are paid for.
Anchor is also considering a scheme where tools can be loaned, a telephone help line and a series of DIY workshops.
Many of the schemes are available to residents across the borough of Burnley. At the moment the project offers clients help by assessing the condition of properties, offering a list of reliable contractors and giving advice on how to keep homes safe.
