PENDLE people were introduced to the delights of locally produced and Fair Trade food at a free fair.
The food fair in Colne Market car park was planned to run in conjunction with a local farmers market, as a way of promoting and bolstering interest in local produce. Lamb, pork, cheeses and jams produced locally were on sale at the fair.
Stalls selling Fair Trade produce, an organisation committed to getting a better deal for food producers across the globe, and games for children were organised.
Demonstrations on how to cook quick, easy meals were also given and a series of stalls showed those attending what was happening locally.
Pendle Council is committed to the principles of the Fair Trade organisation and is hoping to become the first authority in Britain to be classified as a Fair Trade borough.
