BRITISH Telecom have launched an Internet-based home security system that will alert you if something is wrong in your house.
Called BT Home Monitoring, the 24-hour security system works whether the homeowner is in or out.
Using wireless sensors it can detect changes in your home and alert you of any disturbance by phone, text message or email.
It can also include smoke detectors which will send an early warning of the threat of fire as well as check if a child has come home from school.
Gas leak and flood detectors will be added to the system later in the year, along with a web-cam.
The system works on both a standard or an ADSL broadband line and the self install system costs £299.99.
