A DEFENCE solicitor has asked for time to investigate whether a fruit drink at a wedding was spiked.
Basharat Ditta told Blackburn magistrates that since his client had pleaded guilty to drink driving, several other guests at the same wedding had revealed that they had fallen foul of the drink driving laws.
And he said he wished to speak to several people and make further inquiries which would enable him to advance a special reasons argument why his client should not be banned.
Irfan Babu Mohammed, 23, of Inkerman Street, Blackburn, had previously pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
Mr Ditta said that, as a result of the fruit drink being spiked, it appeared a number of people were facing court proceedings.
The magistrates adjourned the case until June 23 for a special reasons hearing and agreed to remove the interim disqualification that had been imposed previously.
