THE Ramsbottom branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute has had a bumper cash raising year.
The branch raised £3,572 over the last 12 months - an increase of £1,100 on the previous year.
The branch says the extra money was raised because of extra events organised by groups in the area including Ramsbottom Working Men's Club, the Buffaloes, the Lifelong Learning Centre and the library.
The group's annual meeting elected Jean Preston as chairman and president and Jane Atkinson as box secretary.
Bev Turnbull, North West area manager for the RNLI, spoke to the group about a year during which the RNLI made 7,729 launches and saved 7,365 people.
