A BURNLEY pensioner was found dead at his home yesterday afternoon.
The man, who has not been named, was said to have been found at his home in Towneley Street at 5.40 pm.
Firefighters said they were called to the house by the man's son, who is thought to have found the body.
He was taken by ambulance to Burnley General Hosital, but pronounced dead on arrival. Police and firefighters said there were no suspicious circumstances. The coroner has been informed.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It looked as though the man had collapsed while the cooker was on.
"There was smoke coming from the kitchen of the house, but all we could do was turn the appliance off and make sure the house was safe."
