THE annual meeting of the Village Hall committee was held recently, and elections were held for officers for the coming year.
Mrs K Whittle continues as chairman and in her report she thanked the committee members for their continuing support.
The annual flower and handicraft show was set for August 9, and there will be a jumble sale on June 17.
A country and western evening is also being arranged at Mount Lane, for Saturday July 19, when entertainment will be provided by 'Western Union'.
ST JOHN'S Church has received donations of £100 for the organ fund and £40 for the boiler fund and Cliviger Guides are hoping to hold a toasted tea cake event on Sunday June 8, after morning service, to raise funds for the church.
Items are still needed for the Grand Auction on Thursday May 29 in Church House.
MR E HEYS was elected chairman of Cliviger Parish Council at the annual meeting, with Mr D Morgan as vice-chairman.
FIRST buses are also asking for the community's support to keep their half-hourly, seven days a week, early morning to late night service running.
A rival bus company has started running a daytime, Monday to Friday service, just before the First service from Burnley to Todmorden.
In a letter to passengers, First buses say these daytime services are the most lucrative because of passenger numbers, and they support the much less profitable evening and Sunday services.
Without sufficient revenue the company may have to severely cut back their service at less popular times.
