THE reputation of David Hare's The Blue Room for sex, sex and a bit more sex ensures it makes headlines wherever it goes.
This production at the Lowry starring Tracy Shaw and Jason Connery features plenty of nudity, strong language and raunchy sex scenes.
Both actors play a variety of characters from prostitute to model; cab driver to aristocrat; and they bring individual traits to them as they tackle the pit-falls of love and lust.
The audience is taken from dirty side street, to student digs, to hotel room and beyond each featuring one of the characters from the previous scene.
In this snapshot of two lives we see that both are endlessly searching for companionship, but ultimately ending up alone.
This is Tracy Shaw's first major work since leaving Coronation Street and she has left behind dizzy Maxine.
The play tackles its themes with comic touches and biting irony that often catches the audience slightly off balance, particularly the scene between the married woman and the politician.
It is a shame that the play has such a risqu reputation as it deals with many issues modern day relationships suffer from.
The Blue Room, at The Lowry, Salford. Until Saturday. Further details on 0870 111 2000.
