FIREFIGHTERS are to team up with Burnley Council and police to hand out safety advice to residents in an arson hotspot.
Officers from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Pennine Police will meet residents in Burnley's Trinity ward.
The event has been organised by Trinity community worker Sharon Swindells.
Mrs Swindells said: "The event is being held due to the vast numbers of deliberate fires in the Trinity area. It was felt by residents, police, fire service and environmental health that a day of high profile awareness was the way to try and alleviate the problems."
The Fire Awareness Day will be be held at Howard Street Community Health Centre on Wednesday May 28.
Andrea Lensky, of Burnley Council's environmental health department, said: "We are going to give information to residents about what we can do to remove abandoned vehicle and, secure empty properties.
"If people have a three piece suite or a mattress they want to get rid of they can get in touch with us. The event is something we are happy to support."
PC Adam Gordon, community beat manager for Trinity, said: "Pennine Division is leading the way when it comes to tackling arson. A recent project in Burnley Wood was showcased to colleagues through Lancashire Police in Blackpool earlier this month.
"However, arson remains a problem in some areas which is why we are pleased to support this latest initiative aimed at driving down this particular time of crime.
"PC Justin Brown and myself will be attending to give out a range of advice and information on arson reduction and crime prevention in general."
