SCHOOLS are being encouraged to get involved in a new recycling initiative.
Up to 1,000 schools across the UK are involved in the scheme to recycle old Yellow Pages directories. The school which collects most books will get a prize of £300 and every school which takes part will be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win £2,000.
Claire Drury, of Burnley Borough Council, which is arranging the collection and recycling, said: "It's a simple, fun and educational competition that will benefit schools and the environment.
For every pound given to schools in prize money, another pound will be given to the Woodland Trust charity."
