IN the last game of the season at home, Glossop were at full strength while Leigh RMI ladies were carrying many injuries.
However, RMI played some fantastic football in the first half and went ahead through a cool finish from Nicola Jones in a packed penalty area. Leigh's second came from Becky Thompson finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.
Leigh continued to completely dominate the game which resulted in Becky Dennard beating the offside trap to score in the top corner. Player of the match, Joanne Wood then had two great efforts, one which skimmed the bar and the other which was saved by the Glossop keeper.
The fourth came from another great run by Thompson, who then set Lou Sumner through to score an inevitable fourth. After the break Leigh failed to pass the ball adequately and marking was sloppy. Glossop then took control scoring four goals in succession with no reply.
The team is looking for a sponsor for next season. Anyone interested please call Mick on 07930 264 673.
