LEIGH Harriers' new sprint discovery Tashon Gallagher continued his record breaking form - and scored a double victory.
The 15-years-old sensation smashed his own two weeks old 400m club record in the youth's 400m at the second young athletes' meeting in Blackburn on Sunday.
In finishing runner-up he clocked 51.8sec in only his second one lap race to register a national grade 2 standard and was just one tenth of a second off the English Schools' entry mark.
He was also victorious in the short 100m and 200m sprints.
Twelve-years-old Hannah Warburton was also in top form to win the U13 800m also in a national grade two standard. Emily Prior in her first league meeting ran a promising second in the B race.
Abigail Howarth and Kirsty Hogan finished runners-up in the 1200m A and B events.
In the boys' U15 events Mike Slater was second in the 100m then went one better to take the 200m, while Scott Robinson crossed the line in runner-up spot in the 800m and 400m B races.
Tom Henders took second in the 400m and 1500m B events, and Paul Hoinville collected valuable points for the team in the shot, javelin and high jump.
The girls' U15 match brought good second place performances from Lauren Howarth in the 1500m and Rebecca Howarth and Kellie Thornton in the 800m A and B runs. Claire Thompson had two seconds in the 75m hurdles and 200m. On the field Chloe Brown won a second and third in the shot and discus.
In the girls' U17 match Adele Swanton took the 80m hurdles and the 300m B race and was second in the 300m hurdles. Amanda Fearnley had a tough day. After winning the 300m hurdles B race she was third in the 800m and second in the 1500m.
Emma Morris also ran the 800m and 1500m taking second and third places respectively. Louise Boardman was runner-up in the 300m, third in the 100m and second in the shot.
The under 17 boys scored eight first and six seconds Tashon leading the scoring. Alex Urmston was victor in the 1500m steeplechase and the B 200m and took second in the 1500m.
Mike Goddard won the B 1500m steeplechase and scored a double second in the 1500m and 3000m while Tom Boardman was second in the 800m. Neil Pendlebury won the B 3000m and was second in the 400m while Sean Mulligan was third in the 100m.
The Leigh squad put up a season's best performance to take third team place. Leigh will host the next match at Robin Park on June 1.
