EWOOD enforcer Garry Flitcroft has ended speculation surrounding his future by agreeing a new deal to stay at Blackburn Rovers.
Flitcroft will put pen to paper on a new three year contract in the next few days after accepting the terms being offered by the club.
And the 30-year-old midfielder is delighted at finally getting his future sorted out following months of careful negotiating.
"I'm relieved to get everything sorted out before the summer," said Flitcroft.
"I never wanted to leave Blackburn but it was important to get the right deal for myself and my family and now we've come to an agreement I hope to sign the contract in the next few days."
Flitcroft has been locked in talks with Rovers about a new deal for the last six months.
Initially, the club were only willing to offer the player a one-year extension on top of the 12 months his existing contract still had to run.
However, they finally bowed to the skipper's demands and he will now be contracted to the club until 2006.
News of Flitcroft's decision will be warmly welcomed by the club, particularly in light of all the uncertainty surrounding David Dunn.
Middlesbrough and Aston Villa had both been linked with moves for the former Manchester City star during the last few months while his contract situation was still up in the air.
But now Flitcroft has the opportunity to clock up 10 years service with the Ewood club after first signing in a £3 million deal from City in March 1996.
Meanwhile, Rovers still plan to bolster their midfield resources with a summer move for Millwall's Steven Reid, although talk of a deal being 'imminent' is somewhat premature.
Elsewhere, Keith Gillespie's agent Phil Munnelly has denied stories linking his client with a move to West Brom.
Munnelly insists there has been no contact between the two parties whatsoever.
"I don't know anything about it. We haven't heard anything in that direction at all."
