RAIN couldn't dampen the carnival spirit on Saturday when a Hot on the Streets carnival set Atherton alive.
Town centre manager Annette Root, involved in organising the event designed to encourage people to join-in community carnivals, was delighted with the response.
"It was a good day and a good atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed it," said Annette.
Routines
Atherton Dance Centre pupils performed some brilliant routines and The Real Macaws provided music with a Latin flavour. Onlookers tried their hand at arts and crafts with pavement painters Urban Canvas and Action Factory and took the opportunity to have cycles and mobile phones security marked.
First prize of £100 is till up for grabs for the person who correctly names the winning display in the town centre shops' hot and tropical theme. Entry forms are in participating businesses and must be completed by Saturday.
