MARATHON medals, audio and video equipment, ornaments, cuff links, an engraved trophy plus over 100 rugby league programmes are waiting to be reunited with their owners.
The property was discovered by police who searched a Leigh town centre flat in connection with burglary suspicions and the haul is in storage at Leigh police station.
It includes: a small cup, engraved The Bryce Trophy, three marathon medals including once bearing the legend 'Blackpool International Marathon 1989', an Acoustics Solutions DVD player, JVC disc and tape players including a cassette of 'Highlights from Jeff Wayne's Musicals' plus two mahogany speakers, a pair of cuff links in an H Samuel case and a large, engraved vase.
A collection of rugby programmes, mainly of Leigh RLFC, covering the 60s and 70s but including some 50s and 80s games. Among them was a programme from the Australia v Great Britain RL Test match played on July 14, 1962 at Sydney Cricket Ground (the Aussies won that Third Test by 18 points to 17, but GB won the series 2-1). Many of the programmes have the name 'D Risley' on them and an Holden Road, Leigh address but enquiries have drawn a blank.
"We hope someone will recognise the items so we can return them to their rightful owner," said PC Steve Gaskell.
