POLICE in Burnley are appealing for the public's help following the theft of three boxes of potentially harmful tablets from a car.
The tablets are thought to have been taken when a silver Vectra parked on Towneley Picnic Site in Todmorden Road, Burnley was broken into between 12 and 12.30pm on Tuesday.
The 850mg Metformin tablets are white with S138 etched on them. They are housed in boxes in punch-out foil sheets and are used to treat diabetes.
Police are warning that the tablets, which lower blood sugar levels, could be dangerous in the wrong hands causing nausea, vomiting, breathing difficulties and convulsions.
They are urging anyone who finds the tablets or has any knowledge of the theft to contact their local police station or call Pennine Police on 01282 425001.
