A 23-YEAR-OLD man suffering from paranoid delusions after taking a cocktail of drink and drugs the previous evening attacked two police officers, a court was told.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Richard Wayne Cooper bit one officer and struck another in the face.
And a third, off-duty officer, was also assaulted when he went to help colleagues subdue Cooper.
Cooper, 23, of St James' Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Dundaven causing actual bodily harm, assaulting WPC Gorton and assaulting Michael Parkinson, a person assisting a constable in the execution of his duty.
The case was adjourned until June 18 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports and for the defence to obtain medical reports.
Daniel King, defending, said his client conceded the matters were extremely serious.
Mr King said: "He explains his behaviour by the fact that the previous evening he had taken a combination of alcohol and drugs which resulted in paranoid delusions."
