TWO teenagers were attacked and threatened with a baseball bat and knife during a robbery in Burnley.
The pair, who are 18 and 19 years old, were taken to Burnley General Hospital after being attacked by two Asian teenagers on a underpass below the M65 off Pendle Way, heading towards Clifton Street.
The incident happened at around 10pm on Friday.
DS Dave Groombridge said: "One of the two victims was hit over the head with a baseball bat and threatened and the other one was threatened with a knife. They were robbed of their money, cash card and a mobile phone.
"The offenders then made off towards Stoneyholme. The injuries, which include head injuries and bruising to the arms and legs, are nasty but not life threatening. Both of the victims received medical treatment.
"This was quite a violent attack and was unprovoked. At this stage I cannot comment on whether it was racially motivated. As far as we are concerned the motive at this stage is robbery.
"We are still looking for an Asian male, in his late teens to early 20s, and appeal to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch. It is a fairly dark and desolate place."
Anyone with information should contact DC Jones or DC Baldwin on 01282 472143.
A 17-year-old Asian male has been arrested and charged with robbery and will appear at Burnley Magistrates Court tomorrow.
