A MOTHER and son escaped with minor injuries after the car they were travelling in overturned on the Haslingden bypass.
Craig Nutter, 22, of Peter Street, Barrowford, lost control of the Volkswagen Golf as he was overtaking on the dual carriageway.
The incident happened at 12.56pm on Saturday, near to Manchester Road.
Sergeant Martin Bishop, of the Road Policing Unit in Colne, said: "As he was overtaking he hit some debris on the carriageway which caused him to lose control.
"The car left the carriageway, went up the embankment near to the new garden centre and collided with a couple of posts.
"This put the car into a roll and it landed on the motorway barrier.
"They were lucky to have been in such a sturdy car and just end up with bruising."
Craig, who suffered a sprained wrist and bruises, and his mother, Catherine Nutter, who suffered bruising to her shoulder and whiplash injuries, were taken to Fairfield General.
One lane of the bypass was closed until the vehicle had been removed.
