St Mary's RC Primary, Langho
SCHOOL REPORT: Our motto is 'Reach for the stars!' Everyone at St Mary's is committed to reaching for the stars and aims to get the best for and from each individual child in all learning experiences. Staff place great emphasis on the pastoral care of the children and we enjoy a happy, family atmosphere.
PRESENT PUPILS: St Mary's currently has 220 pupils on roll, serving the parishes of St Mary's, Langho, and English Martyrs' Whalley, with some children from Blackburn and Ribble Valley.
STAR PUPILS: All our children are stars in their own right. We have children with special educational needs who achieve amazing results. We have gifted and talented children in school, who compete with high fliers nationally. Then there's the huge majority of children who regularly achieve stardom by working hard to reach personal bests.
OUT AND ABOUT: Dinnertime and after-school clubs provide a range of extra-curricular opportunities including football, netball, French, chess, choir, guitars, woodwind, brass, strings and recorders.
SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT: Clever kids, talented teachers, super support staff, great governors and partnership with parents! Academic success last year led to a DFES school achievement award, musical talent has produced many local and regional festival winners and a number of sporting triumphs have been celebrated in individual and team events. But our greatest pride lies in the warm, happy and positive climate.
WHAT ABOUT THE PARENTS: We place great emphasis on parents being involved in their children's education, and we aim to develop open and friendly relationships with our parents in school. We welcome parents, governors, parishioners and friends who wish to make a regular commitment helping out in school, and everyone is invited to share our special achievement assemblies on Friday afternoons.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A £100,000 WINDFALL?: This would go some way towards fulfilling our dream of providing pre-school and child care facilities in the form of additional accommodation for a nursery and before/after-school club.
