LANCASHIRE Education Authority Pupil Access Officer for East Lancashire Paul Bainbridge addressed this month's meeting of Cliviger Parish Council.
He spoke on the issue of secondary school places, which has caused great concern to parents in the area for some years. Councillors and others had an opportunity to put questions to him and he undertook to pass details of their concerns to the LEA.
FOLLOWING publication of a flyer for bus passengers, issued by First Calderdale, their route manager is to be invited to the next meeting of the council.
WORSTHORNE Estates have expressed their support for the lease or purchase of additional land at Mount Lane by the parish council, subject to it being for the provision of a community facility.
THE inaugural meeting of the Cliviger Challenge Steering Group will be held in the Village Hall tomorrow at 7pm. A visit to Chipping to view the community facilities there is being arranged for Saturday 14 June.
ONLY one letter of interest had been received regarding the vacancy for a parish councillor and Ms Cosima Towneley has been invited to attend the next council meeting.
AMONG complaints from residents being dealt with by the council are: damage to steps on the footpath from Broad Ing Close to Burnley Road, overgrown verges in Red Lees Road, repairs required to allotments fencing and the need for improvements to street lighting between Salterforth Lane and Foxstones Lane.
THE Village Hall Management Committee has been successful in the first round bid to Shanks First for funding to improve the parking and disabled facilities at the village hall.
