FRIENDS of Sunnyhurst Wood are planning a party extravaganza for the centenary celebrations.
Friends will celebrate 100 years of the ancient woodland by hiring a brass band and inviting a variety of stallholders to take part in the day on August 10.
Dennis Gilibrand, Friends chairman, said: "We held a dog show last year and attracted around 80 dogs with their owners.
"We are looking to do the same again this year and combine the show with a host of other activities. We are going to hire a bouncy castle for the kids and hold a barbecue for people who want to come along."
Aside from summer celebrations, the Friends have ordered two new benches for the woods.
Mr Gilibrand said: "The seats cost around £1,200 and are going to be installed by the reservoir gate which is known as the best seat in the house. We are hoping to have them in there by the end of July in time for the hot weather."
