OVERNIGHT roadworks on a main route into Blackburn town centre will close off King Street from 7pm tonight to 7am tomorrow.
The closure is to allow workmen to resurface the street, which is being regenerated by Blackburn with Darwen Council along with the private sector.
Additional parking bays are being created, which will reduce King Street to a single lane.
It is hoped that the parking spaces, along with environmental improvements, will lead to more people using the street, making it more attractive for businesses to relocate there.
Coun Andy Kay, in charge of regeneration, said the road closures would ensure disruption would be kept to a minimum.
Diversions have been set up.
