THE Mayor of Padiham, Councillor Bob Clark and the Mayoress Mrs Hazel Rushton are to attend the Mayor of Burnley's Civic Church Celebration at St Augustine's at 10.30am on Sunday, June 1.
In the afternoon they will be at the Bowling Green in Padiham to watch the finals of the contest and present the prizes.
On Sunday, June 8 they will attend a concert given by Burnley Silver Alliance Band in Memorial Park at 2pm.
THE Mayoress, Mrs Hazel Rushton, and Christine Bond are planting polyanthus around the town which have been used in spring displays.
The Mayoress has donated some to Hapton's Environment Committee for use in the village.
FUTURE plans for the Mayoral couple include 'A Celebration of Padiham,' where the past and future of this vibrant town will be displayed and enjoyed.
A NEW headteacher has been appointed for Gawthorpe High School. He is Andrew McKenzie, who is currently headteacher at Broad Oak School in Bury. He will take up his duties in January.
CHILDREN from Padiham Green school visited Blackburn Rovers Ewood Park ground. They toured all the facilities, spoke to team members, managers and groundsmen.
THE Audit of Hapton Parish Council's finances has been completed as required under the Audit Commission Act 1998.

HAPTON postmistress, Susan Johnson, now offers new ways of paying benefits to customers. These include pensions, DSS payments and tax credits. Full information is available from Susan at the post office.
THERE has been more vandalism and unsociable behaviour in the village. The grocer's shop window has been broken again, litter, including a bed base, has been thrown over the wall at the top of Bridgefield Street and youths are annoying local residents. This behaviour brings the village into disrepute.
