HAZLEHURST Primary School in Ramsbottom enjoyed a surprise birthday treat of £4,000.
The Ramsbottom school, which is celebrating its centenary this year, was presented with the cheque from the Friends of Hazlehurst Primary.
Headteacher Mr Stuart Birtwell said: "We are most grateful for the continued support for the school. We have been able to buy many pieces of equipment and subsidise activities through the generosity of the parents, friends and community. It is a wonderful effort for a relatively small school."
Fund-raising events over the past year included the seasonal school fairs, a race night, and catalogue sales.
On Saturday, July 5, the committee will stage its biggest event of the year, the summer fete to mark the school's 100 years, and which will have an Edwardian theme.
