STATE-of-the-art facilities at Bury College have now been given the go-ahead.
Bury Council's planning committee approved the application at Tuesday night's meeting after previously turning it down in April because of the height of one of the teaching blocks.
The three-storey teaching block, three-storey performing arts and humanities building and print room will be added to the Peel site in Market Street. An additional 43 jobs will also be created.
There was a 53-name petition from residents opposing the previous application, which included a five-storey building.
Neighbours thought there would be a problem with lack of privacy with students looking into properties and reduced light because of the height of buildings.
But the revision to the plans ensures that no residential properties can be overlooked and that daylight is maintained for residents.
The plan will also include a 50-place nursery for the residents of Redvales, in collaboration with the Early Years Development and Child Care Partnership and with New Opportunities Funding.
There will also be two centres of vocational excellence for courses in childcare and health and social care for various professions and management and business. A performance theatre and specialist accomodation for languages and humanities is to also be established.
