BURY hosted a visit by 40 "Table guests" who lapped up Lancastrian hospitality in the true spirit of friendship.
Round Table members from France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Holland spent four days in the town, courtesy of their counterparts in Bury, during a successful 109 rally. All the clubs involved come under the common 109 Table number.
Highlight of the weekend was a It's a Knockout event followed by a gala dinner. The guests attended a welcome meeting on their arrival last Friday and later danced the night away at a disco at Woodbank Cricket Club.
The following day, Woodbank primary school was the the venue for the Knockout event involving mixed teams. The theme was based on traditional school sports and activities included a tug-o'-war, egg and spoon race and relay races. This was followed by the gala dinner at Walmersley Golf Club.
On Sunday, the guests gathered for a farewell brunch before travelling home. Accompanying the male Tablers were their wives who belong to the sister organisation, the Ladies Circle.
Steve Simpson, of Bury Round Table, said: "The whole rally was a storming success and it was a fantastic weekend."
