PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice has welcomed work carried out in the borough as part of the Warm Front Scheme.
He said: "The work, which is carried out by Eaga Partnership, is making a difference for many constituents with low incomes. Since the scheme began in June 2000, 2,500 residents in Pendle have benefited from the free grant from the Government to improve the heating and insulation.
"In Pendle, £1,475,181 of Warm Front spending has helped people save energy and cut the cost of keeping their homes warm. Three hundred and fifty-four households have new central heating systems and 1,401 have had repairs to faulty systems. More than 2,000 households have had insulation, helping save on heating bills.
"I urge people to apply now for grants. To qualify, people need to own their own home or rent from a private landlord. They also need to be in receipt of an income or disability related benefit.
"I want to see even more money spent on houses in Pendle and anyone interested can contact the Warm Front team on 0800 316 2808."
