BOLTON and Bury Chamber has warned that those who occupy, manage or have responsibilities for premises which may contain asbestos now need to be fully compliant with new regulations.
The Chamber stresses it is important to take steps now to ensure that these people comply with the full range of responsibilities detailed in The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002. Bolton and Bury Chamber can provide advice and access to funding for asbestos surveys.
Says Steve Horrocks, health and safety manager for the Chamber: "Many buildings contain asbestos, but the owners and occupiers may not realise it. Owners, occupiers and managers of buildings now have a legal duty to manage the risk from asbestos or to co-operate with whoever manages that risk."
For help and advice on dealing with asbestos, or to gain access to funding for surveys, phone Steve Horrocks at the Chamber on 01204 374690.
