CONSIDER this. Ramsbottom is built along the A676 Bolton to Burnley Road and has grown over the centuries. This thoroughfare in Bolton is named Ramsbottom Road. In Ramsbottom it goes under many guises, namely Bolton Road West, Bolton Road, Bolton Street and Bolton Road North.
So why, since the town's links with Bolton are so clear, has the evening bus service been curtailed after 6pm?
The service may not be fully utilised as it should be in the evening by the people of Ramsbottom, but the service was used by people connecting to and from our nearest main line railway station, young people having a night out in Bolton at the weekend, and older people having a social night at the bingo.
Also, why can a bus company namely, Burnley and Pendle, which is supposed to provide a service, be quite willing to offer that service during the day when passenger numbers are at capacity, but let people at night whistle in the wind?
Ramsbottom councillors should join with their counterparts in Rossendale and Bolton to try and get this service reinstated.
L.D. EVERETT,
Ramsbottom.
