STEVEN Quigley went looking for revenge when his girlfriend miscarried their child two days after being assaulted by her former partner, a court heard.
Blackburn magistrates were told that Carol Grant was dragged from her bed by the hair and then punched by her drunken ex, who had forced his way into her house.
Defence solicitor Andrew Church-Taylor, said the attack proved the final straw for Quigley.
He had ignored all provocation by the former boyfriend.
Quigley, 20, of Essex Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a door.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £150 compensation and £50 costs.
The court heard that Quigley was seen outside the home of the other man armed with a wooden bat.
He smashed a glass panel in the door and damaged the lock.
