RISING car crime in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale is due to be tackled by police who have designated next week as car crime week.
Throughout the week a host of events will be staged to tell motorists how they can lessen the chance of being victims of car crime.
Activities will include include a divisional car crime awareness roadshow where crime prevention information will be available; free car window etching and advice surgeries where community beat officers will hand out advice.
Police stations will have car crime prevention displays with free leaflets and stickers for visitors.
Supt Steve Hartley said: "Car crime is on the increase and although we are doing all we can to target and catch criminals, the public have a responsibility to help prevent crime."
